The climate as an invisible character

The climate runs through several of Bruno Courtin's novels as a silent force.

In Terra Australis, it reveals the ancient ice of Antarctica and exposes an Alsatian family to extreme heatwaves. In other narratives, it acts as a slow pressure: drying of soils, disappearance of water sources, modification of habitats, migrations and social tensions.

The climate is not only a setting. It becomes a revealer.

It shows what societies refuse to see as long as the consequences remain bearable. It transforms daily gestures, cities, bodies, work, families and territories.

The question is no longer only: how to survive a catastrophe? It becomes: for how long can a society still call exceptional what returns every year?
