Ongoing research on Terra Australis

The research around Terra Australis is organised along several axes.

The first concerns Antarctica: the melting of the ice, the fossils, the inaccessible zones, the scientific stations, the detection technologies and the natural memory contained in the ice.

The second concerns the Antarctic Treaty of 1959, used in the novel as a foundation to build the fictional A-1959 protocol, a secret arrangement linked to ancient anomalies.

The third axis bears on ancient civilisations: Egypt, the Sphinx, the pyramids, Göbekli Tepe, the Indus Valley, Nazca, Tiwanaku, the Amazon and ancient China. The novel does not claim that all these civilisations would share a single origin. It rather questions our tendency to confuse the absence of proof with the absence of existence.

Finally, Terra Australis integrates a strong climatic dimension. Global warming is not merely a backdrop: it becomes the revealer of the fragilities of our modern society.
