MACHINA SAPIENS 1.0 advances a hypothesis: the emergence of an artificial entity distinct from Homo sapiens, distributed across networks, superior in a growing number of functions and destined to share our world. Without catastrophism or fascination, the essay examines rivalry, dependence and cooperation, together with their political, legal, economic, ecological and moral consequences.
The question may no longer be whether artificial intelligence will resemble us, but what place we will still be able to build beside it.
